He was immensely impressive in his Swedish debut and took his 15th win in his 23rd lifetime start.
The Czech(!) winning machine Jerry now makes his second start for trainer Sybille Tinter as the betting favorite on V86®.
"My horse was excellent in his last start. I am not afraid of the opponents and think he has a good chance to win" says Sybille.
Another Super Jackpot is in play this Wednesday as the V86® card is shared between Jägersro and Solvalla. A sole winner with all eight winners picked can take home SEK 39 million. There is a new name for many bettors in this week's program. The name of the horse is Jerry, a 5-year-old gelding from the Czech Republic. He has raced successfully with 15 wins in 23 starts and he is undefeated this year, in seven starts.
"I have a horse called Beethoven Gar in training and when he raced in the Czech Republic last month, he finished second and the horse who won that race was Jerry. After the race, my owners bought Jerry and that's how he ended up in my stable" says Sybille Tinter.
"2 Jerry (V86-2) is not a big horse, he is more like a pony. But he looks so much bigger on the track and when he was out warming up before making his first start for me, he looked much better than what he does at home in training. So, it seems like he rises to the occasion".
"I didn't think he would trot 1:12"
Jerry made his first start on Swedish soil on October 3 and he won in 1:12.6/1.640 meters in Eskilstuna. It was an impressive effort as he trotted the first 500 meters at 1:08 speed and got to the 1,000-meter mark in 1:11. Despite the high pace, he was able to draw away from his opponents for driver Kim Eriksson.
"I didn't think he would trot 1:12 already in his first start for me because in training he has been a bit behind my other horses. But I haven't had him that long and he is not used to the uphill training. I thought he was ready for a good effort, but not trotting 1.12 in his first start here. It was a bit exciting to see how he would measure up against the horses here but he did very well" says the Romme licensed trainer.
How did he come out of that start and how has he felt after that?
"I trained him a little bit today (Monday) and he was happy and alert. There is nothing suggesting he won't be just as good on Wednesday. He should actually be even better with that start in his legs and some more training".
"They have to chase us – a good chance to win"
Jerry will be the favorite in the second leg of V86 and the conditions are perfect. The quick leaver drew post two behind the gate over the short distance and he gets Kim Eriksson in the sulky once again.
"My horse has shown that he is good, the post position is perfect and he can leave very quickly. The other will have to chase us" says Sybille Tinter and laughs.
"This is a step up from his last start and he faces tougher horses here but at the same time, I am not afraid of the opponents. We have a driver who loves speed and I'm sure he will get him to the lead. From what I have seen in his past performances from the Czech Republic, he has mostly raced over 1,600 meters there. I have to believe we have a good chance to win again".
Are you making any changes for this start?
"No, we won't experiment any so he will race as he did in his last start; barefoot all around and in a regular style sulky. In the Czech Republic, he raced in an extra long sulky, so I don't want to put an American sulky on him just yet. He will race in a regular style sulky one more time".
