V86®: Phenomenal Frank is Fredrik's new favorite
Fredrik Persson has produced many nice young horses over the years.
He now has another extraordinary talent. Frank S.H. has to accept that he is the giant favorite on V86.
"I am aiming at the fall with him, he has not been peaked in any way yet".
STL Summer Trot with V86 at Solvalla this Wednesday.
The national arena offers a race night of high class with STL legs, Hjördis lopp for coldbloods, and the last four divisions of Margaretas Tidiga Unghästserie.
The Kalmar licensed trainer Fredrik Persson is one of the guests at Solvalla this Wednesday and brings his newest talent. The three-year-old 5 Frank S.H. (V86-3) made headlines already in his second career start when he set a new world record at Åby, back in November. The career has pointed straight up after that, for the elegant, dark colt by the new stallion Fourth Dimension. The colt has not been close to losing in three starts this year. In his most recent start, he won the three-year-old elite race on Copenhagen Cup day, at Charlottenlund Racetrack in the middle of May.
What has Frank S.H. been up to for almost months since that start?
"There hasn't been a lot of races for him to race in, actually. There was E3, but that would have meant a couple of long trips, and I didn't really want to do that to him. This start was pretty much the only one for him, so we are racing here. We have stayed at home and trained instead and he has felt good" says Fredrik.
So, you haven't aimed him at this particular start?
"No, I can't really say that. I am aiming at the fall instead and wanted to build him up in training. He hasn't been peaked in any way yet, we are going for continuous training".
Kriteriet is the big goal
Fredrik Persson is associated with a number of horses who have raced in the biggest stakes. The fantastic Viola Silas, of course, but names like Ultra Bright, Monark Newmen, and Boys Going In also come up. Maybe Frank S.H. can also reach the same heights?
"Most of all, this horse is very intelligent. He knows exactly what to do and he never wastes any energy on something else, and he has a lot of potential" says the trainer.
What is the plan leading up to Kriteriet, I guess it is no secret that you are aiming him for that?
"Yes, that's the big goal. Other than that, we haven't actually planned all that much, so I don't know where his next start will be, we have to see how it feels after the Wednesday start".
The Wednesday start in 'Margaretas' first. A good chance to win, of course?
"Yes, I think it should be. Everything seems well with the horse and we drew well, too".
Janita has also shown talent
Frank S.H. is not the only horse from the headquarters in Fågelmara to make the trip to Stockholm on Wednesday. His travel buddy is another three-year-old, the filly 4 Janita Silvio (V86-5) who also has shown to be promising. In her last start, she was only a nose away from winning Guldstoet at Axevalla.
"She has also done very well, she was second last time out and that was a lot of fun. She has really shown progress and has stepped up to another level after we pulled her shoes, it has been a very successful move for her. So you could say we have already used all the gears on her".
You drew a good post position and she can leave pretty quickly too?
"Yes, she was able to hold out the others in her last start, but I think she is best with cover, she has a very quick turn of foot, and if she gets the trip she needs, she should be able to battle for the win" says Fredrik.
