V86®: "One of the better horses in the country"
Very few starts this year. Timo Nurmos is in no hurry.
On Wednesday, it is full speed ahead again as the stable sends out five starters on V86®.
"Soundtrack is our best chance. He's a very nice horse" says Andreas Lövdal in the Nurmos stable.
Timo Nurmos has kept a low profile during the winter and has only raced sporadically. So far, the stable has only made around 30 starts this year. With the better weather and track conditions, more and more horses from the stable are coming out on the racetracks.
"We had a pretty tough winter and it has taken a bit longer than planned and the horses just haven't felt race ready. Now, the training conditions have been good for some time and the entire stable is looking better. Timo is also not known to be in a hurry. The young horses are usually best come fall and I'm sure it will be the same way again this year" says Andreas Lövdal.
On Wednesday, the stable has five starters on V86®, which Solvalla co-hosts with Jägersro. The horse attracting the most attention is 6 Brother Bill (V86-6) who chases a spot in Elitloppet.
"He trains strong and was very good in a heat last Thursday. He has a lot of energy and last year he was very ambitious in his first start of the year. He seems to have matured and is a bit more quiet mentally now. He also travels straighter than before and it feels like he has taken another step in his development".
Would you be surprised if he wins right off the layoff?
"No, I can't say that I would. He has shown that he is one of the better horses in the country and he will race well and if things work out, he can definitely win".
Must have a good chance
Brother Bill is already an established star. The question is if 7 Soundtrack (V86-4) can reach the same heights. The horse was very impressive when he won easily in his first start for Timo Nurmos.
"Soundtrack had trained incredibly well and showed also in the race that he has qualities that can take him far. He looks good after that start and should get better with that start in his legs".
Is he a horse to single on the V86 ticket?
"That's for the bettors to decide. So far, he is very good for the class he is in and of course, he must have a good chance to win. This is our best chance on Wednesday".
In V86-2 you have 1 Kendall Jackson, who makes the first start for the Nurmos stable. How good is he?
"We haven't had him for that long. He trains well and my feeling is that he will race well. Kendall Jackson raced well for his previous trainer and we can't complain about the post position. He is worth going on the V86 ticket".
In the last leg, you have two horses from the stable, how should the bettors handle them?
"2 Express Love has been missing that last little bit of oomph in his most recent starts. Now he has two starts in his legs and he feels better and better The post position is good and I think he is good for the class he's in and deserves going on the ticket as well. 12 Lee Harvey Bros felt good and was not tired in his last start, when I drove him. That was a good experience for him and he will get better with that start in his legs. He drew poorly and it will be tough for him to get in the race and if he can make some money, he's done well!.
