V86®: Lindesberg kicks off STL Sommartrav

Elitloppet has barely sunk in before it's time for the next trot fest.
On Wednesday, STL Sommartrav (the STL Summer Trot) kicks off and Lindesberg is the first stop as they host V86®.
"I think I have a good chance to win Bergslagsloppet with Gooner" says Daniel Wäjersten.

Swedish Trotting is making a huge investment this summer with a new strategy and increased purses. STL Summer Trot, the Solvalla series, and an enhanced super day in October are some of the new ideas.
"We want to increase the STL experience further on our 27 biggest race days this summer and make the summer even more fun for all trotting fans. From the Wednesday after Elitloppet all the way to Jubileumspokalen it is STL Summer Trot with a coordinated effort for both the sport as well as for the fans. The weekly schedule is pompous with dual STL cards all summer.
As far as it is possible there will be STL division races on both Wednesdays and Saturdays, which means that all the top trotters at the different tracks have the chance to race" says Swedish Trotting.

"Gooner has a good technique in the turns"
Lindesberg is the first track to host a V86 card. Daniel Wäjersten makes the trip with four horses and the most interesting one is 1 Gooner who is the likely favorite in Bergslagsloppet (V86-8) over the short distance.
"Gooner feels strong. My plan was to race him in the Sweden Cup, but I chose this race instead. I hope we can race in some of the bigger races this summer. Gooner has raced well his entire career and he really took off during July last year. He has many good features and the best one is his gate speed".
Is there anything, in particular, to keep in mind at Lindesberg?
"The turns are a bit tight and I actually think that's an advantage for Gooner who has a really good technique in the turns".
How do you assess your chances?
"I think we have a good chance to win. I'm happy with the post position, he can leave fast and I will leave as hard as I can. I would love to race him in the lead and I am not making any equipment chances".
Another interesting horse is 2 Declan (V86-4), who makes his first start of the year here.
"He is well prepared. He has a lot of ability which he showed last year when he qualified for the Swedish Trotting Derby. I have had this race in mind for a while since he soon will go out of this class so I chose to race him in a V75 leg right off the layoff. I'm not sure if he will race with a blind bridle or with a can't-see-back. I expect a good effort and he feels very good".
The Wäjersten stable has two starters in V86-6 and Daniel drives 11 Mellby Joker himself.
"He is in good shape and I was pleased with his seasonal debut. He will be even better this time, but unfortunately, he drew poorly and I feel more or less chanceless because of that. My other horse, 4 Marlon Boko should have a better chance to win. He has one start in his legs now and should be even better for this start. He has gotten some toughness racing in V75 and he's simply a good horse. He never or very rarely gives me a bad effort and I think he will race well again".
