Kinky Boots started his career in a very promising way. As of last spring, the horse is now trained by Troels Andersen.
In his last start, the gelding found his way back to the winners circle for the first time for his new trainer.
"He is not in top form yet, but he is on is way there".
11 wins in 24 starts is a good record.
1 Kinky Boots (V86-1) started his career very promising as a three- and four-year-old. Then trained by Solvalla trainer Jimmy Nilsson. But an injury put his racing career on hold and the now six-year-old gelding had been away from racing for 15 months when he last spring returned for his new trainer Troels Andersen. Having made five starts since then, it now seems like he is on his way back to top form.
Kinky Boots was very impressive in his last start when he won at Bollnäs in 1:11.8 over 2,140 meters, a new lifteime mark.
"He was good in his last start and finally got to win again, he felt good then and he has felt good in training after that too" says Troels.
So has he found his way back to top form again?
"No, I don't think he has yet, but he is on his way there. He has gotten a lot of heavy training but I haven't pushed him that much yet, so I think he will need a couple more starts before he is in top form and we will also sharpen him up in training a bit more. But I think it looks good on paper for this start on Wednesday".
Could be tough to hold up the lead
Just like in his last start, Kinky Boots has drawn post position one behind the gate again. He was not able to hold up the lead, last time out. In this race for aprentice drivers at Bergsåker, Jill Ivarsson gets the call behind the gelding.
"He is not that quick out of the gate. Post position one is a bit better at Bergsåker than it is at Bollnäs, where he last raced, it depends on how fast the car goes, but I don't think he can hold up the lead. So we hope that they can find a way to get out and not get locked in. Post one is OK though, obviously much better than having post twelve, but had we drawn post two or three, that would have been even better".
He is a very capable horse. Do you have any plans for the future?
"We take it one start at a time with this horse, since he has been injured and been off for such a long time and it was tough to get him back to the races. We will keep racing him and see what happens".
But you think he has a good chance to win on Wednesday?
"Yes, I think so".
Her form is better than it looks - should go on the V86® ticket
The Gävle licensed trainer has one more starter at Bergsåker, as the Sundsvall track co-hosts V86® this week together with Solvalla. Nine-year-old millionaire mare 11 Saga Doc (V86-7) is used to racing against tough horses and she is winless so far in eleven starts this year. She made a good comback after an early break in her last start in Diamantstoet, so the form is better than it looks in the program.
"Saga Doc hasn't delivered the same way she did last year, but she trains well and I hope she will get a lucky bounce soon. Last time out, they hooked wheels so that's why she made a break, but she made a good comeback after the break".
So the bettors should not write her off completely when they play V86?
"No, I don't think so. If you play with three or four horses in that leg, then I think she should go on the ticket. It feels in training like she is due for a win soon".
