Team Hagoort/Bakker is ready for new adventures in Sweden.
On Wednesday, when V86® is split between Solvalla and Halmstad, they have two interesting starters.
"Mamma Mia Sisu is well prepared and should be considered a winning candidate," says trainer Paul Hagoort.
The Dutchmen Paul Hagoort and Robin Bakker have become a factor in Swedish racing. For a few years now, they have had a small stable just outside Stockholm, and it has been some successful years. Hagoort/Bakker have celebrated great success in Sweden and the rest of Europe over the last decade.
"Things have gone well, I have nice horses to work with, and that's necessary in order to be successful. Then, it's up to us to make the best of it," says Paul Hagoort.
"The stable at Julmyra Horse Center functions well and is handled professionally. Right now, we have around ten horses there. More horses will come, among them some of our best 3-year-olds that will be pointed at the bigger stakes for 3-year-olds. We have around 20 stalls available, and by the end of May, it should be full. Then we will see how the season progresses. So far, everything looks good and the horses have trained well."
Comes well prepared
On Wednesday, there is a V86® card as usual. This week it is split between Solvalla and Halmstad, and at the capital track, the Hagoort stable has two interesting starters.
"6 Mamma Mia Sisu (V86-2) is a very nice filly. She proved that a few times last year and easily won an elimination for the Svensk Uppfödningslöpning. Unfortunately, she made a break in the final. That was a bummer since she felt great, and we managed to have her in top form for that race. But, that's racing, especially with young horses."
"She has trained all winter, and it feels like she has made progress in most areas. She feels strong and comes well prepared for her seasonal debut. I don't know the opponents that well, so it's hard for me to evaluate her chances. I'm pleased with my filly, and I believe in a good effort, even if she is not trained to be sharp for this particular race."
"I hope she can do well in the stakes this year. First, we aim at the Breeders Course, and then we hope to have her in top form for the fall season."
Hoping for a good pace
"10 Elita Indal (V86-6) has made two starts this year and done very well. In her last start, Robin Bakker gave her a good trip, and she held on strongly in a good time. She hadn't raced for a few weeks prior to that, and hopefully, that start will improve her form."
"She had a strong year last year; she made a lot of money, and she has to race against tougher horses now. As far as I can see, this is a pretty tough race; many horses had a lot of starting points, and from her post position in the second tier, we are dependent on what the opponents do."
"This time it's a middle-distance race, which is no disadvantage for Elita Indal. I'm hoping for a good pace upfront and that she gets a nice trip, then she could pass many down the stretch."
