Rick Ebbinge has established himself in Sweden and hopes to kick start the new year.
On Wednesday, when V86® returns, he has two starters in good form.
"Ulla Rols and Moses Boko should both fight for the win" says the trainer.
V86® is back and we are back to the everyday grind again as the card this Wednesday is shared between Solvalla and Åby. Åby Racetrack is the place to be for Rick Ebbinge. He has had his license at Halmstad ever since he moved to Sweden a couple of years ago, but in just a few weeks he will become a trainer at Åby.
"There isn't enough room for me where I have been since I moved to Sweden, so this is best for all parts involved. The farm is not so far from Robert Bergh's place. It's called Dunevad and is owned by Tommy Karlstedt. A few different trainers have trained there with good results and there are great training possibilities at the farm. I'm renting 30 stalls and I'm looking forward to it" says Rick Ebbinge.
The Dutch native has established himself in Sweden and he had a good year in 2023. The highlight was when he won Svensk Uppfödningslöpning with L'Amourpourblanca.
"I am pleased with the year and we have improved constantly and almost every horse that raced has won at least once. It looks good for next year. We have 14 3-year-olds in the stable and I hope that we can continue to get better and better".
Both should go on the ticket
On Wednesday, he has two starters at what will be his new home track.
"I think the bettors should use both on their tickets, they have trained great and feel good".
"7 Ulla Rols (V86-1) was good in her last start after a short layoff. She feels good after that and should be improved with that start in her legs".
This is a long distance race, how does she handle that?
"I don't see the distance as a problem, then I wouldn't have entered her, but it's also not an advantage for her".
How fast can she leave?
"She can leave OK, she is pretty far out behind the gate, but on the long distance it shouldn't matter that much. I will go forward and try to find a good spot".
How do you rank her in this race?
"I think I have one of the better horses in the race and she should be considered early".
"5 Moses Boko (V86-6) races well every time and I was happy with his last performance. He feels very good in training after that start".
He doesn't win all that often, how come?
"It's not because he doesn't try in any way. He's not that fast in the start and he has gotten some bad trips and still closed well without being able to get up there".
What do you think of his race?
"Exciting. He is strong and can do the hard work himself. With a decent trip he should also be in the mix".
Are you making any chances on your two starters?
"Ulla Rols might race in a regular style sulky, but I haven't decided yet. Other than that, they will both race the way they have".
