The Reldén brothers' careers have just started.
This Saturday at Åby, they are chasing their first V75® win.
"I think Bowlers Day should have a decent chance," says Lowe Reldén.
The two young brothers, Noa and Lowe Reldén have made up their minds. Their passion for trotters is infinite, and now they are going all in on building a successful business.
"We think this is a lot of fun, and we want to do something that, perhaps, nobody has ever done before. Noa is responsible for the horses and I do a little bit of everything, most of the administrative work. We want to reach the elite and develop, and we have a plan for that," says the 21-year-old Lowe Reldén.
Four years younger brother Noa has shown very good hands driving. Last year, he won 19 of 33 starts, a winning percentage of 58. This has echoed in the Swedish trotting community. He is one of four nominees for the Rising Star Award at the Swedish Trotting Awards Gala on March 15.
Lowe has also tried driving without much success, and he has decided not to drive anymore.
"I don't think it's as much fun as Noa does, and then things don't go well. You have to put your heart and soul into it, so I'd rather put my time and energy into other things".
Just a few weeks ago, the brothers had their first starter, which ended in success. Bowlers Day won a V64 race at Axevalla with driver Victor Rosleff.
"It was a lot of fun to see that we are doing something right".
Even better for this start
This Saturday, V75® will be raced at Åby. The card is spiced up by a jackpot with SEK 46 million in the pool, and the already mentioned 15 Bowlers Day (V75-4) is one of two starters from the Reldén stable.
"Bowlers Day was very good in his first start for us. He trained well before that and came well prepared, but we were unsure of his form". He showed a great attitude, and he still feels good in training after that start. He should improve with that start in his legs and be even better for this start. He is strong and benefits from the long distance. We knew he would draw in the third tier since it's a handicap, and he will have to do a lot of the work himself, which he has shown that he can".
"I think he is one of the better horses in the race, and we have a good driver, so we are optimistic. We might make a bridle change, but we will think about it during the week".
First time in the American sulky
On the truck to Åby is also the French-born 12 Ideal du Vignac (V75-7), who has made one start in Sweden.
"Unfortunately, he made a break in his first start for us. He couldn't handle the volt start, which we feared, and he got a bit too nervous".
"He raced well after the break, and Ulf Ohlsson, who drove, said that he was far from tired. The horse trained well before that start, and he should be improved with that in his legs. We believe in a strong effort here. Unfortunately, he drew poorly and will need racing luck. I believe he will race really well, and then we will see how far that takes him".
"He will race in American sulky for the first time in his career, and that's exciting. We think that will be perfect for him. He's an interesting horse for us, and we have some hopes for him going forward. Ideal du Vignac is far from done, and he should be able to develop further".
