After a slow spring season, Sandokan is certainly back.
When V75® comes to Jägersro this Saturday, he chases his fourth consecutive win
"I think it looks good and I think we have a good chance to win" says trainer David Persson.
One of the absolute highlights of the year is coming up this weekend. Jägersro is hosting V75 both days with the Swedish Trotting Derby and the Mares Derby as the two features.
On Sunday, the racing itself will attract the most attention. On Saturday, the focus is on V75 where the chase for the millions goes on.
The amateur trainer David Persson from Axevalla could sit on the solution, having two starters, both with a decent chance to win.
"It sure looks interesting. Both Sandokan and Dynamite Sensation are training well and drew good spots, which makes me a bit optimistic" says David Persson.
5 Sandokan (V75-4) comes into the race with three consecutive wins.
"He's a very talented horse who could climb quite a bit through the classes if we just can get his gait a little bit better, that's the challenge. Looking at his ability and attitude, he's a long way from hitting the ceiling".
After the horse's most recent win, Persson said that Sandokan is a bit hikey with a hind leg, something that is pretty uncommon.
"Yes, I would say that it is. I honestly don't know why he does that. We keep working with him and he gets a lot of help by massage therapists, working on his muscles and I think he's getting better and better".
A good time to gamble
Sandokan drew a good post position for Saturday and he can leave fast.
"He is fast in the start and he doesn't mind the distance. I would like to see him raced in the lead and regardless of the trip, I think he should have a pretty good chance to win".
Sandokan is already qualified for the upcoming STL final, so trainer Persson is making a couple of interesting changes.
"He will race with shoes behind, he has raced barefoot in his last two starts. I hope and think that will help clean up his gait. I also would like to try him in an American sulky for the first time, but I haven't decided just yet. It's a good time to gamble a little bit, since he's already qualified for the final".
5 Dynamite Sensation (V75-4) also comes into this start in top form.
"I am very pleased with him too. His effort at Visby was very good and I think he was at least as good in his most recent start, it was just against tougher horses. Dynamite Sensation has started from bad post positions in his last three starts, but we were luckier in the draw this time. He is pretty fast out of the gate and with a decent trip he also has a chance to win".
