On Saturday, the race card at Klosterskogen, Norway is very Nordic.
Sweden arranges V75® and the Danish trainer Bo Westergaard has three chances to win.
"I wouldn't be surprised if all three end up in the photo" says Nicklas Korfitsen in the stable.
After two days of Spring Race with V75® in Sweden, the Saturday card is being raced in Norway, at Klosterskogen racetrack where the conditions are a bit special. The track is only 800 meters and it has a passing lane.
"I have driven there once and it was quite an experience. The turns are sharp and the surface is not as good as a Swedish track, for instance, it can be pretty demanding and many who haven't driven there before will be surprised" says Nicklas Korfitsen.
The 24-year-old works for Bo Westergaard and has proven to be a very good driver.
"I have been given good chances by Bo and I get to drive often and that's how you improve. To drive in Sweden against all the top drivers, for example, is good for me and also very inspiring. I really like where I'm at and I have no plans of starting my own stable for a while yet".
On Saturday, three horses are making the trip to Klosterskogen and they should all get along well with the track according to Korfitsen.
"We race pretty often at Skive and train some at that track too. Skive has sharp turns that are not that different from the ones at Klosterskogen and we kept that in mind when we entered these horses".
Good post position
First to race is 3 Gandhi (V75-1) who comes with two straight wins.
"He has been very good and has impressed us. We haven't had him for that long and he just keeps getting better and better. We had entered him to Färjestad this Friday but he didn't get in there".
How does he handle the long distance?
"That’s fine, he has shown good strength so it shouldn't be any problem".
What do you think of his chances?
"I think he should be in the mix. He has a good post position and it's tough to win at Klosterskogen if you're too far back".
4 I.D. Exceptional (V75-5) won the Norwegian Kriterium as a three-year-old and is a capable horse.
"He's a very nice horse who has had some problems. He wasn't at his best in his seasonal debut. He had some throat issues and he has been treated for it".
How has he trained after that?
"He feels good and I don't think he has lost any of his form and hopefully his last start put some speed in his legs".
It looks like he will be heavily used by the bettors, are they right?
"The conditions are right for him and he should do well in a race like this. I don't know if he should be the favorite, but he should for sure go on the ticket.
4 Zaffiro Jet (V75-7, pictured above) who is known from Sweden, finished outside the money last time out at Åby and there are explanations.
"He had post position 12 and the driver chose to sit at the pylons with him. Zaffiro never really got the chance and he closed fast and wasn't tired. He is in good form and raced very well in the previous start at Jägersro over this distance".
Would you be surprised if he wins?
"No, I can't say that I would. If he gets a good trip, he's no worse than anyone else and he is one of many who can win the race".
