The favorite everyone wants to beat in the first V75® leg on Saturday.
The Romme licensed trainer Emilia Leo starts the fast leaver My Star Is Born who races in Class 2 for the third time since the beginning of July.
Third time the charm?
"I think it looks good on paper as the toughest opponents drew in the second tier".
The Rättvik card on Saturday starts with an open race.
The lowest STL class (Class 2) for horses with lifetime earnings of SEK 250,000 or less sees the 5-year-old My Star Is Born as the favorite. He is likely the race leader according to the handicappers, and it is well known that most races are won from the lead.
My Star Is Born is a fast leaver and Emilia Leo will likely leave as fast as possible. There are no worries that he would make a break, as in his most recent start.
"No, we went all in with him last time out, equipment-wise. He got a bit too sharp with the American sulky for the first time and blinkers. He got too nervous and made a short break, but raced great to finish fourth," says Emilia.
He will race with the American sulky again and barefoot as he usually does when racing in Rättvik. But the blinkers will stay home on Saturday.
"We are going back to his regular blind bridle; the blinkers got him too closed up. I'm not worried that he will make a break again, he's normally as safe as anyone and I will leave all I can in the start. He's very fast out of the gate," says Emilia Leo.
My Star Is Born makes his third consecutive start in Class 2. At Lindesberg on July 3, he got a nice trip along the pylons, but he just raced OK that time.
He came up with a better effort in his most recent start, after making a short break in the start.
"Normally, he's incredibly safe, that's why he managed to get back trotting so fast after making a break in his last start. At Lindesberg, he was hitting the sulky the entire race, that's why he didn't have as much trot that time. I think he did well to stay on stride".
"Not the toughest class 2 race"
The form is better than it looks on paper and the trainer is optimistic.
"He is good, as I said, and I don't think this is the toughest class 2 race, plus the toughest opponents drew in the second tier. On paper, it looks good," says the Romme trainer, meaning Daniel Wäjersten's 11 Macao Keeper.
1,640 meters behind the gate are the conditions this Saturday and according to Emilia, the horse takes care of business himself behind the gate.
"He leaves fast and takes off on his own".
Amateur trainer Hanna Rexhammar has used you as the regular driver behind 2 Can Can Broline (V75-4). In her last start, she raced in the Stochampionatet eliminations, but was not at her best that day, according to the trainer. A capable, but not very easy horse to drive. Comment?
"She has always stayed flat for me, knock on wood. She's incredibly capable, but very sensitive. Maybe even more sensitive in volt start. but post position two could be good for her, as her biggest issue is when you move her in or out".
She also has a chance to win, then?
"She's incredibly talented and if she's at her best, she is good enough for a race like this".
Which one of the two you drive would you say is your best chance?
"I haven't studied the race Can Can Broline is in that much yet, but because of the post position, My Star Is Born might be a better chance, as he has a chance of getting to the lead".
